About TanPrevent.

The Indoor Tanning Prevention Working Group publishes the evidence on indoor tanning and skin cancer, and the gap between what's known and what's regulated — in plain language, fully sourced.

If you tan

Nothing on this site is trying to shame you. It's trying to give you the same information a dermatologist has, in the same amount of time it takes to scroll a phone. Start with المفاهيم الخاطئة, or the full evidence library if you want the sources directly.

If you're a parent

Most states restrict tanning-bed use by minors in some form, but the details vary widely, and a parental-consent exception can reopen access even where a restriction exists — in the one study we cite on this, parental-permission laws alone showed no measurable effect on youth prevalence, while outright age restrictions did. State-specific detail is being built out at the Policy Observatory; nothing is published there until it's verified.

If your child already tans, the same non-judgmental evidence in the myths section is written to be shared, not lectured from.

If you work in health

The evidence library lists every claim on this site with its citation, effect size, and stated limitations. The فريق العمل page has full affiliations and disclosures, including where a member is also a cited author.

If you work in policy

The Policy Observatory is the architecture for a state-by-state framework covering under-18 restrictions, parental-consent exceptions, facility regulation, licensing, inspection, enforcement, and misleading commercial claims. It's in development. If you can help verify state-level data, use the contact button below.

Governance

TanPrevent is not an incorporated organization. Nothing on this site implies nonprofit or tax-exempt status, and no institutional affiliation listed for a Working Group member should be read as that institution's endorsement of this site or its positions. Nothing here concerns, or would restrict, medically supervised phototherapy — see the phototherapy distinction.

Scientific and public-health information, not individual medical advice.
